Lynda Wake

Lynda Wake holds a Bachelor’s degree in Theology through Tabor Adelaide, South Australia. Together with her husband, David, she has served with Wycliffe Australia, based in Melbourne, since 1998. Alongside their four children, they have supported the global Bible translation movement by offering practical assistance and pastoral care throughout the Pacific region and outback Australia.

After the heartbreaking loss of their teenage daughter Bethany, in 2011, Lynda’s passion to see all people have the opportunity to become disciples of Jesus through the transformative gift of Scriptures in local heart-languages has strengthened and multiplied.

Lynda is a devotional writer for Wycliffe Today, and author of the award-winning Heartbreakingly Beautiful – a hope-filled devotional journal inspired by the life of Bethany Wake. Lynda has spoken and ministered throughout the globe in her role with Wycliffe, and as an ambassador for CBM (Christian Blind Mission) on behalf of Bethany’s legacy that offers support to the most vulnerable.

Lynda’s second devotional journal Waiting Well With Jesus, published in 2024 by Authentic Media, continues to minister to many around the world who have experienced their own devastating losses. Through her work, Lynda tenderly reminds us of our breath-taking inheritance in Christ, helping us discover rich treasures that can only be found through a costly veil of tears.

Lynda delights in strolling with her husband through the beauties of nature, conversing over hot cups of tea with her grown children, playing with her beloved grandchildren, and creating fun gifts for family and friends.
