Stephanie Walters

Stephanie Walters is the award-winning author of It’s Not a Sprint: Lessons of Faith and Endurance on the Marathon of Life, released in November 2024.
Stephanie’s memoir shares her transformation from couch potato to ultrarunner, and the personal trials that tested her faith — including type 1 diabetes, divorce, miscarriages, injuries, alcohol addiction, and mental health battles. With candid storytelling and spiritual insight, her story offers hope to those navigating life’s hardest terrain, reminding us that true endurance comes from fixing our eyes on Jesus.
Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Philosophy from Charles Sturt University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Editing and Electronic Publishing from Macquarie University. As a professional copyeditor, she finds immense joy in helping other writers refine their words and bring their stories to life.
Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age five, Stephanie hasn’t let it stop her from chasing big goals. She’s completed seven marathons and four ultramarathons — including a 150-kilometre race across the Simpson Desert — with no plans to slow down.
She lives in Brisbane, Australia, with her husband, Geoff, and their three daughters, Mariella, Hannah, and Arna.
